AFCU Prayer Meeting
By David
What is AFCU?
It is:-
PRAYER union, started in 1851 as "the Army Prayer Union" to pray for the spiritual welfare of the armed forces. In 1920, to include the Navy and the RAF, it became the Officers Christian Union. It now includes all ranks and the name changed to Armed Forces Christian Union on 1st January 2005.
We went to an AFCU prayer group in Bury St. Edmunds before going to Zambia as we had both become christians in the RAF in Northern Ireland in 1959 and 1961 and were very involved with SASRA and praying for Service Personnel.
On coming to live in Colchester we found there was no AFCU prayer meeting and made enquiries about starting one up and will be holding our first one on Tuesday December 6th. at our home.
The aim of the AFCU prayer ministry is to stimulate and guide prayer for
A. The needs of serving members associates and their families.
B. The unions activities (House Parties etc.).
C. The spiritual needs of UK armed forces and of other countries.
If you have a desire to pray for our christian servicemen and women, you will be very welcome to join Bel & David at their home once a month. Please contact us for more information. |
